It is a big change moving to a suburb of Chicago! Plum City is surrounded by fields, farms, other small towns and small town people. Some may wonder what in the world there is to do in such a rural area, but truthfully, if you seek it out and don't mind going on a bit of an adventure, there are so many amazing things to do! Here are some ideas to get you going on your next adventure in Plum City!
Plum City:
- Spring Pond Park (this is known by many names including, but not limited to, The Duck Pond, The Trout Pond, The Fish Pond, and The Pond). This is a spring fed pond (doesn't freeze in the winter!) that is kept up by the city and kept stocked with trout. Come stroll around the pond and feed the fish! (No Fishing, except kids during the Summer Festival!)

They also serve Timm's Ice Cream (small batches - so delicious!). The bakery is a fantastic place to stop for a good chat over a cup of coffee in the morning or for an afternoon pick-me-up! Owned and operated by the Glaus family, make sure to say "Hello!" to Gwen! (I highly recommend the square donuts with the chocolate frosting and puffy filling!)

- Plum City Legion Summerfest. This is the big event of the summer! Come together with the whole community for the Antique Car Cruise, Youth Fishing in the Trout Pond, support the Plum City/Union fire department as they water fight their way to victory against other local fire departments, search for the medallion, hear "Midnight Special" play, eat some delicious Wisconsin food, let the kids try for prizes at the paper plate drop, and watch one of the best firework shows in the area (they echo through the valley, it's really awesome!). Come to Plum City Legion Summerfest!

- Molly's On Main. The place to eat in Plum City! Right across Main Street from the Duck Pond, come in and eat a great meal while enjoying friendly Wisconsin conversation! Pick up a t-shirt or sweatshirt as your Plum City souvenir! Try some of Molly's great burgers and be sure to get some deep fried cheese curds to really get the whole Wisconsin experience!

- Plum City Public Library. Come in to cool down and find a good read! Super friendly and helpful staff, comfortable chairs, cool air conditioning, and a book waiting to be discovered by you! Have a relaxing afternoon!

- Plum City Revival Gallery & Antiques. A new addition to Plum City! Come to what used to be the Methodist church to check out all sorts of antiques and find a treasure of your own!
Photo: www.pcrevivalgallery.com/index.php - Plum Creek. Not the one from "On the Banks of Plum Creek" by Laura Ingalls Wilder, but Plum City's own! On hot days, go wading in this spring fed creek! It's cold, but it's worth it and so much fun!

- Nugget Lake County Park. Hiking, camping, canoeing, kayaking, a soccer field, basketball hoops, a playground, a picnic shelter, a great place for a summer day! Come and hike the trails, cookout in the afternoon, let the kids play on the playground, and soak in the beauty of God's creation all around you!

These are some of my favorite things to do in Plum City, once you get the feel of a small town it is hard to leave! Enjoy your adventure and let me know if there are any other Plum City places I should add to the list!
God Bless!
